Will my monthly
electricity account
increase?
No, an energizer uses
very little power - about
the same as your alarm
system draws. All you are doing
is charging a 12V battery,
the energizer manages the
system.
Will it hurt my children?
No, the pulse is
intermittent. Should a child
or adult touch the fence the
immediate reaction is to
pull away after initial
shock.
Will it hurt my cat or
dog?
Cats can smell the magnetic
field and would not normally
approach the electric fence.
Dogs will not normally touch
a second time but they will
not be harmed if they do.
Is an electric fence a
good deterrent?
A Voltage electrified fence
is an excellent first line
of defense, visually and
from a fear factor. It is
designed to keep unwanted
people outside. Should it be
cut or tampered with the
alarm will sound.
Is it necessary to
connect the electrified
fence to the Alarm
monitoring company?
These days we definitely
recommend connecting the 2
systems.
Do branches and foliage
have an effect on the fence?
If the fence is installed
correctly with no shortcuts
of material, this should be
your only maintenance that
the fence will require. We
strongly recommend keeping
the trees cut back
preventing unnecessary alarm
trips and damage to your
energizer. |

What sort of voltage is
in the fence?
The maximum voltage allowed
by law is 10,000 volts and
the average setting is
between 7,000 and 11,000
volts to allow for
fluctuations. Its not the
voltage of the energizer
that determines the shocking
power of the fence. The
shocking power is measured
in Joules, 2 being an entry
level energizer and designed
for smaller properties and 8
being the maximum strength
allowed in a residential
area. These are typically
complex energizers but are
becoming more and more popular
with residential houses.
Can criminals place
something like a blanket or
rubber mat on the electric
fence to climb over it?
They can do this but
due to the fence design
using springs the wire will
be shorted out when touching
under pressure and trigger
the alarm. Make sure that
heavy duty springs are used.
What would happen if the
wires were cut?
It is very difficult to cut
a high voltage line but not
impossible. You would also
have to deal with a nasty
shock and immediately the
alarm will trigger.
What happens during a
power failure?
A good battery has a 6-8
hour charge providing your
fence with Voltage for that
period till full power is
restored. It is very
important to replace your
back up battery every 2
years be it your gate
motor, electric fence or
alarm battery.
Do I only switch the
fence on at night?
Your Voltage electric fence
has been designed to be left
on 24/7 providing you
with permanent security. The only
time you would switch your
fence off will be when you
want to cut back trees or
foliage. |
